The summer fest ‘Grishma Utsav’ of the Namchi Government College, Kamrang in Sikkim got underway on Saturday.
The festival organized by the Student Representative Council of the college was inaugurated by Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.

In his address, the Chief Minister stressed that students should refrain from participating in caste and religious based political issues of the people of Sikkim.
Chamling further lamented that the youth of the State are not taking full advantages of the development schemes offered by his government over the last 24 years.
He urged the students to embrace knowledge-based education and not to limit themselves with degree and certificate-oriented education.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the principal of the college, Dr P Poudyal gave a detailed report about the development that Namchi Government College has witnessed under the State Government.
The ‘Grishma Utsav’ focuses on convergence of exceptional talent amongst the students, he said.
The major attractions of the festival are open volleyball tournament, inter-college badminton and table tennis competitions, dance shows, singing and poem recitation.
