Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora on Thursday alleged that both Centre and state government are โdeliberatelyโ trying to delay the National Register of Citizen (NRC) publication.
โThe Supreme Court had already told one year back that the final NRC should be published by July 31, 2019โฆwhat the government was doing in the last one year,โ said Bora.

He was referring to the latest petition filed by New Delhi and Dispur seeking verification of 20 per cent people whose names were earlier included in the draft NRC.
Interestingly, the NRC authority had recently cut down names of more 1 lakh people from the draft NRC.
โWe have been demanding for a clear NRC which would be without any mistake,โ said Bora.

Referring to the flood situation in Assam, Bora also accused the central and state government s of neglecting the situation.

โItโs a perennial problem of Assam and we have been demanding that the flood problem in Assam be declared a national problem but the government is giving a blind eye on this,โ said Bora.
Meanwhile, Congressโ Nagaon Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Borodoi said the government should carry out a study before initiating the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved a sum of initial Rs 1,600 crore for Dibang Multipurpose Project (MPP) in Arunachal Pradesh.
The project shall generate 2,880 MW (12ร240 MW) power to produce 11,223 MU of energy in a 90% dependable year.
This is the largest ever Hydro Electric Projects to be constructed in India.
The dam is 278 metres high and will be the highest dam in India once completed.
The project is located on river Dibang in Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh.
