Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi visited Baksa district on Tuesday and held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, heads of the departments and other stake holders and took stock of the developmental works and prevailing law and order in the district.
While chairing a review meeting with all the heads of the departments at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner’s office, the Governor took note of the status of health and hygiene, drinking water, cleanliness, education, road and communication, agriculture among others.

He also directed the administration to take special initiatives to ensure that fruits of all government schemes reach the lowest strata of the society at the earliest.
Deputy Commissioner, Baksa, Sanjeeb Kr Gogoi while apprising the Governor of the development works being undertaken in the district said that the district administration has been on its toes to extend the fruits of governance to all sections of the people of the district.
To invoke swachhata in every aspect, the Governor asked the Deputy Commissioner to undertake sudden visit to educational institutions, government offices, hospitals etc.

He also directed the Deputy Commissioner, heads of the departments and heads of the educational institutions to strictly adhere to cleanliness besides making it mandatory for every institution to dedicate the first hour of their office on seventh day of every month for ‘swachhata’ and asked the Deputy Commissioner to inspect at least six places on the same day from 3 pm to 4 pm to take swachhata to its logical conclusion.
Governor Prof Mukhi also visited 200 bedded Dr Ravi Boro Civil Hospital in Mushalpur and interacted with the patients and enquired about the medical services being rendered towards them.
He also visited Mushalpur Higher Secondary School and held a meeting with the teachers.
Prof Mukhi interacted with the representatives of various social organizations and members of Press and took suggestions from them relating to the welfare of all sections of the people of the district.
Governor Prof Mukhi also held a meeting with the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the security agencies to have an insight of the law and order situation prevailing throughout the district in the conference hall of the circuit house.
