Four people were killed in a tragic road accident in Assam’s Karbi Anglong.

The mishap that took the lives of four people on the spot took place when a tanker run over an autorickshaw at Khatkhati under Khatkhati police station in Karbi Anglong district on Thursday afternoon at around 4 pm.

The accident took place on National Highway 39, Asian Highway when a speeding tanker (NL 01 A 1636) dashed against the auto rickshaw (AS 09 AC 0842).

The deceased include thee passengers and the driver of the auto rickshaw.

The victims have been identified as Biren Sing Engti (25), Pradip Sangma (47), Memcha Devi and Makri Hansepi (45).

Notably, the stretch of national highway is prone to accidents involving tankers resulting in deaths. The tankers are usually driven at high speed.
