Along with the other districts of Assam, Darrang has also remained a part of the historical moment with the publication of the first list of the draft NRC on Sunday midnight.
Following the publication of draft NRC, the published list has been made available in all the eighty NRC Seva Kendra’s besides the revenue circle offices and office of the Deputy Commissioner since 8 am to 4 pm on Monday.
Venue of three Seva Kendra’s at Gaon Panchayat offices Mowamari, Puthimari and Chaowlkhowa respectively situated in a single campus at ward no 1, Mangaldai, have been shifted temporarily to the campus of Mangaldai Govt HS School.
This has been done because of the large public gathering in the congested Gaon Panchayat office campus informed Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati, District Nodal officer NRC cum Additional Deputy Commissioner, Darrang .
Meanwhile the district has recorded inclusion of around forty five percent of its total population as informed by the district NRC authority.
“Nearly four lakh sixty five thousand have been included in the first list of the published draft, out of the total ten lakh thirty two thousand applicants in the district and the remaining are under verification,” added Nodal Officer Bhagawati.
