Devesh Nandan Sahay, former Governor of Tripura passed away after a period of prolonged illness in a private hospital on Monday in Bihar, family sources confirmed.
The former Governor was 82 years old at the time of his demise. He leaves behind a son and two daughters.

Sahay, born in 1936, began his career with the Indian Police Service, ultimately rising to the position of DGP in Bihar.
He joined the Samata Party after his retirement and became the first Governor of Chhattisgarh after it was granted Statehood in 2000.
Sahay took over as the Governor of Tripura in 2003 holding the position until 2009.
