Former PM Manmohan Singh admitted to AIIMS in Delhi

Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has been admitted the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Sunday night over chest problems.

According to media reports, the former PM was taken to the cardio-thoracic ward of the hospital at 8.45 pm.

He is currently under the observation of the doctors at the cardio-thoracic ward of the premier hospital.

It has been reported that the 87-year-old two-time PM is not in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

He is being reportedly treated by Dr Nitish Naik, a professor of cardiology at AIIMS, New Delhi.

The former PM had undergone a successful bypass surgery in January 2009 at AIIMS in the national capital.

As the news of the former PM spread like wildfire, prayers from people across the country continue to pour in.

Dr Singh represented Assam for several years as a parliamentarian,

Assam health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was earlier a Congress leader, has also prayed for the veteran Congress leader and former PM, wishing his speedy recovery.

Minister Sarma tweeted: “I am concerned to learn of the ill health of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh. I pray for his speedy recovery.”

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has also prayed for the former PM.

“Deeply concerned about Dr Manmohan Singh ji’s health. Hope he makes a full recovery soon. All of India is praying for our former PM,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Former Union minister Shashi Tharoor, while informing that Dr  Singh is not in the ICU, tweeted: “Concerned by reports that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to AIIMS In Delhi, but relieved he is not in the ICU & is in good hands. Wishing him a speedy & complete recovery.”
