If exit polls are to be believed, Congress is set to lose its last bastion in Northeast–Mizoram. The surveys so far predict major gains for the Mizo National Front (MNF).

TheRepublic-CVoter survey has predicted between 14 and 18 seats for the ruling Congress, 16 to 20 seats for the MNF and three to seven seats for the 3-7 for Zoram People’s Movement.

The CNX-Times Now survey suggested MNF is set to win 18 seats while Congress will win 16 seats. TheNewsX-NETA survery gives the Congress 15 seats, 19 to the MNF and its allies and six for other parties

The 40-seat Assembly has a majority mark of 21. 73 per cent of the 7.68 lakh voters exercised their franchise to elect a new assembly in Mizoram.

The Mizoram assembly election results will be declared on December 11.
