All the ex-servicemen of Sikkim from Rajya Sainik Board, Government of Sikkim headed by Colonel DN Bhutia and Welfare Officers of all Zilla Sainik Boards called on Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at his official residence at Mintokgang on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day on Thursday.
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling stated this is a sacred day dedicated to valiant members of the Armed Forces who had laid down their lives for the safety and security of the motherland and are guarding the frontiers. He also pointed out that after their great service to their nation, they are the rightful people to come back and contribute to society. Since the state has progressed with much advancement, the ex-servicemen after their retirement could engage themselves in various fields such as organic, entrepreneurship, tourism etc. and continue their dedication and commitment to the state again.
He also said that education should be given top priority as the quality of Human Resource directly reflects the progress of the state. Stating that Sikkim has been the first of many achievements in the state, he said that the message of peace and communal harmony should be foremost.
The ex-servicemen thanked the Chief Minister for extending all possible help and placed a demand for a Sainik Rest House for which the Chief Minister gave his consent. They said that all their past demands and needs have been looked after by the state government and assured their co-operation in spreading the message of peace and harmony in the state.
