A safety and awareness programme for electrical workers and public was held today at the APCDL office in Kokrajhar in view of increasing incidents of electrocution among the electrical workers in Kokrajhar district of Assam.As part of the programme, a demonstration was presented on safety measures to be taken.

Chief executive officer, APCDL Mukul Patowary, Rural Electrification (Monitoring) officer Nabaeep Roy, District Programme Manager, APCDL Shariful Alam were present in the awareness camp and spoke about the safety measures.

It is worth mentioning that at least  five labourers engaged in electrification of new power line were electrocuted in the district so far this year.

One person died and six others were seriously injured when they were electrocuted at Batarmari village in Kokrajhar on December 11. Two labourers were electrocuted at Bismuri Samokaguri area in Kokrajhar  earlier on November 6 this year.
