At a time when the Core Committee of Nagaland Tribes Hoho & Civil Organisations (CCNTHCO) sought solution to the Naga political issue before the election to the Nagaland Assembly and urged all political parties and candidates to boycott the polls recently, Naga peace talks interlocutor RN Ravi on Saturday assured that the ongoing Naga “peace process has not and shall not be affected by this election”.
In a letter to the convenor of the Core Committee of Nagaland Tribes Hoho & Civil Organisations, Ravi, the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, interlocutor and Government of India representative of Naga peace talks, on Saturday stated, “I am aware of the prevailing situation in Nagaland over the forthcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly.”
Ravi stated that he is sensitive and respectful to the Nagas popular sentiment for an early solution to the Naga political issue.
He stated, “The negotiating parties are trying their best and have made significant progress in the last three years.”
Assuring the Naga people over the Naga peace talks, Ravi added, “I would like to assure the Naga people that the ongoing peace process has not and shall not be affected by this election.”
The Naga peace talks interlocutor further stated, “At this crucial juncture, I urge the people to maintain peace and harmony in the State.”
However, the CCNTHCO, while softening its earlier stand opposing the election on Saturday stated that it will not use force to come in the way of any individual’s conscious decision to exercise one’s choice in the larger interest of the people.
The committee took the decision to this effect at a meeting in Kohima on Saturday.
