Agartala: Acting against the illegal trade of drugs, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached the properties of two ganja dealers in Tripura’s Sepahijala district.

In the last couple of years under the aegis of the government’s vision of building Neshamukt Tripura, the Agartala sub-zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate has taken up several such cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Two separate cases 2018/SNM/072 and 2018/SNM/074 are pending against Sujit Sarkar of Batadhala village at Sonamura under Sepahijala district.

The first case was registered in the court regarding the seizure of 900 kg of ganja.

In February, the Enforcement Directorate attached immovable properties (land) of Rs. 40,25,000 and movable properties of Rs. 90,155 of Sarkar and his wife.

In a separate case, the properties of Prasanna Kumar Roy and Pranay Kumar Roy, both sons of the late Paresh Chandra Roy, were attached by the ED in March.

Two separate cases —- 2018/KLC/031 and 2018/KLC/074 were registered at Kalamchaura police station against Paresh Chandra Roy, who has already passed away on, in connection with the seizure of a total of 923 kg ganja.

His properties were seized in December 2022.

In March last year, movable properties worth Rs. 86.85 lakh and immovable properties of Rs. 24.30 lakh were attached by the ED.
