Meghalaya will get strict vigilance and security during the votes counting day on May 23 for both Shillong Lok Sabha constituency and Tura Lok Sabha constituency including the byelection held at the Selsella constituency, as per reports.
The Election Commission will be sending observers four days before the counting day. To avoid any lapse in the procedure in the counting and consequent result output, the observers will, reportedly, be staying in the state till the counting of the votes is completed along with other election formalities.

According to information, high security provisions have been made, ahead of the counting days, in the strong rooms where EVMs and VVPATs are stored.

For Shillong Lok Sabha constituency, the counting will take place at 13 places including Shillong, Sohra, Jowai, Khliehriat, Nongpoh, Mawkyrwat, Nongstoiñ, Mairang while for Tura constituency, counting will take place at Tura, Williamnagar, Baghmara, Resubelpara, and Ampati.

It has also been reported that during the counting day, CCTV cameras will be installed at the counting venues. Counting of votes, in Shillong, will take place at Polo, Indoor Sports Hall as well as at Dalang Stage.
