With just few days left for the Assembly polls in Nagaland, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain visited the state on Tuesday and held a series of meetings with State Election officials, all the political parties, district administration and security forces at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Kohima in connection with the forthcoming State Assembly election.

He will be visiting Wokha, Mokokchung and Dimapur tomorrow to have a firsthand knowledge to review the poll preparedness.

Meanwhile, joint review meeting of Wokha and Zunheboto for poll preparedness for the forthcoming election was held on Wednesday at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Election Commissioner (DEC), Nagaland In-charge, Sudeep Jain, CEO, Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, IG Range, Wabang Jamir, DIG, CRPF, Sarabijit Singh and DC and SP of Wokha and Zunheboto.

During the meeting, Jain reviewed the works and activities related to the forthcoming election for both the districts. He apprised both the DCs and SPs and ROs to take their assigned responsibilities very seriously for the smooth conduct of election.

The DEC also reminded all the ROs on visiting all the polling stations and to sensitize the public about EVMs and VVPAT.

Jain also directed that the concerned areas are updated to the Election Commission so that timely action can be initiated. He added that statutory functions should be mastered by all officials so that no errors are committed. He also reminded that electricity, sanitary and water supply should be made available and arranged in all polling stations.

Both the DCs and SPs of Wokha and Zunheboto apprised the activities undertaken and other security arrangements being made to make sure that no untoward election related violence takes place for the smooth functioning and conduct of the election.
