Eastern Army Commander Lt. Gen. Ram Chander Tiwari reviews Indo-Myanmar border situation in Manipur.

Imphal: Indian Army’s General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command Lt. Gen. Ram Chander Tiwari reviewed the prevailing law and order situation along the Indo-Myanmar border in the Manipur sector.

On Saturday, he also reviewed the prevailing situation in the Pukhao areas in the Imphal East district.

His visit to review the law and order situation is of importance against the backdrop of the frequent firing between the two communities at sensitive locations in the state.

The GOC visited Moreh in the Tengnoupal district and Beheng in the Churachandpur districts of Manipur to review the security situation on Friday, a defense wing statement said on Saturday.

Complimenting all ranks for their high standards of motivation and professionalism, he also interacted with members of Civil Society Organisations and urged them to work towards maintaining peace and harmony.

During a meeting at Moreh that was attended as well by leaders of Moreh-based civil organizations like Kuki Inpi, HTC, Kuki Women Union and Human Rights, Kuki Chiefs Association, Gorkha Union, Manipur Muslim Union, Chamber of Commerce Moreh and Tamil Sangam, GOC RC Tiwari stated that all communities should live together in the cosmopolitan Moreh border town by bringing peace and ending the present violence.
