A 60-year-old woman was seriously injured after a policeman hit her and then ran over her with his car r in a narrow lane of Chilla Village, East Delhi.
The accused has been identified as 56-year-old Yogendra, a Sub-inspector of police posted with the PCR.
He has been arrested and the woman is undergoing treatment for her injuries at a hospital in Delhi.
The incident took place on Friday in Chilla Village near Ghazipur area of Delhi.
Police said that the officer was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the area.
The footage shows the woman falling off the bonnet of the speeding car after being knocked down by the driver.
Even though a man signalled the driver to stop the car as passers-by tried to lift the woman from under the vehicle, the drunk driver, however, in an attempt to escape, accelerated the car and ran over the woman dragging her by a few metres.
The passers-by, however, later managed to stop the vehicle and hand over the accused to the police, who was later arrested.
