The troops of Border Security Forces (BSF) have held a drug smuggler with huge cache of Yaba tablets from Sepahijala district in Tripura along Indo-Bangla border.

Acting on specific input about the smuggling of Yaba tablets, BSF troops deployed at Dipak border outpost under Sonamura police station of Sepahijala district carried out special search operation in the bordering areas and nabbed the smuggler with 940 number Yaba tablets worth Rs. 4, 70, 000, BSF officials said on Tuesday.

The arrested smuggler has been identified as Sabujer Rahaman, 26, Tarapokur area under Dhanpur police station.

The apprehended smuggler along with seized items was handed over to police at Sonamura police.

During the questioning, the suspect revealed that he received the consignment of Yaba from a smuggler Dulal Mia of Tarapokur and which was to be delivered to Bangladesh drug smuggler Kamal Mia of village Dolakia in Comilla Sadar Dakshin of Bangladesh, said a BSF official.

According to BSF, Dulal Mia is a notorious smuggler who has been distributing small packets of Yaba containing 500 to 1000 Yaba tablets to his trusted couriers in the area of Dhanpur, N C Nagar and Tarapokur for further smuggling to Bangladesh.
