Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, Devajyoti Hazarika convened a public meeting at cultural institute hall in Haflong on Saturday in connection with draft NRC publication on the midnight of December 31 next.

The draft which is being published in the midnight of December 31 is only a part and that another draft NRC shall be published subsequently after the completion of verification of the rest of applicants, which will be the complete publication of Draft NRC, the DC said. Therefore in case any of the applicants whose name in the part publication of the Draft NRC is not found may submit their applications to the authority within the stipulated time, he added.

The applicants may check their names in draft NRC in five ways. They may walk into their respective NRC Seva Kendra (NSK) on January 1, 2018 from 8:00 AM onwards or log in to websites www.nrcassam.nic.in, www.assam.mygov.in, www.assam.gov.in, www.homeandpolitical.assam.gov.in or send sms ARN<space> 21-digit ARN to 9765556555 by pre-registration now to receive sms on inclusion in the draft NRC or may also call 24x 7 toll free number 15107 from Assam and 18003453762 from outside Assam.

The DC has also informed that the family data in NRC’s draft list may be checked at the respective NRC Seva Kendra where application forms were submitted.  From January 1 next from 8 AM onwards. The NRC control room contact number 03673236324 is also available at the DC office at Haflong

It may be mentioned that the Deputy Inspector of Schools NSK has been relocated to the Tourist Lodge building. Therefore, the public of the areas under Kalibari area, Bazaar area, Hagjer Nagar, convent road area, college road area, Apollo road area, all town market area to fishery area, behind cinema hall area and Disgao Raji may visit to the new location for inspection of the draft NRC from January 1, 2018.

It is to be mentioned that verification of each individual is being done meticulously in a fair and objective manner to ensure that names of all genuine Indian citizens as per cut off date of March 24 midnight, 1971 are included in NRC.

During the meeting DC Hazarika has ensured the public that in case the applicants do not find their names included in the part draft may not have any fears or apprehensions as the verification procedures are still under progress which shall be soon completed. It is also possible that names of the entire family members are not mentioned in the part publication, in such cases decisions on such families will be part of the complete publication of draft NRC.
