If an attendant brutally killing his mentor was not enough, a son killing his own mother with an iron rod, has put the whole town in a state of shock. While in the wee hours of Saturday, the brutal murder of former Principal of Narshing Higher Secondary School woke the denizens of Silchar from their slumber, an even horrifying murder of a 65-year old woman allegedly by her own son on Friday night, has become the talk of the town on Saturday.
According to police sources, the incident took place at Ataal Basti on the outskirts of Silchar, late on Friday night when Jakir Hussain Laskar, aged, 48 years, with the help of an iron rod struck his mother so fatally that she could not make it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) and breathed her last just upon her arrival out there.

The prime accused Jakir Hussain Laskar, later, was nabbed by their neighbours who beat him black and blue, before handing him over to Ghungoor Outpost.
Police sources further informed that the deceased Jamirunnesha used to live with her younger son who left for Hailakandi to run some errands and did not return on Friday last.
The accused Jakir Hussain Laskar, who did not maintain a cordial relation with his mother, entered younger brother’s house on Friday night and after a tussle with his mother, struck her with a massive iron rod resulting in her death.
A case of murder of a woman in Mizoram is also hanging upon the accused, Jakir Hussain Laskar, said, police official, investigating into the matter.
