A delegation of Dima Hasao District Congress Committee (DCC) met Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa and submitted to him a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for introduction of the Assam Re-organisation (Karbi Dimanchal) Bill, 2016 in the coming Monsoon Session of the Lok Sabha commencing from July 18, 2018.

The Assam Re-organisation (Karbi Dimanchal) Bill, 2016 was introduced as a private members Bill in 2016 by MP Biren Singh but the Bill is yet to be tabled for discussion, debate and enactment.

The Article 244 (A) of the Constitution is a constitutional right granted to the hill tribes and the creation of Autonomous State is a long cherished dream of all hill tribes of the three hill districts of Assam.

The delegation of the Dima Hasao District Congress Committee comprised Nirmal Langthasa, president, Dima Hasao District Congress Committee, Rudrajeet Laisram, Vice-president of the DCC, Mayanon Kemprai, HE, DCC and Daniel Langthasa, youth leader of the Congress.
