A two-day UGC-sponsored theme-based national seminar on human rights is slated to be organised at Digboi College by the Department of Political Science in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College on April 7 and 8, 2018.
The seminar on human rights titled ‘Migration and its impact on the rights of the indigenous people of North East India with special reference to Assam’, which is inter-disciplinary in nature, also includes sub-themes covering historicity of migration into Northeast India particularly in Assam, migration and sustainable development.

Besides these, the other sub-themes of the seminar will be political impact of migration and integration, impact of migration on economic development, social inclusion, human security and migration, impact of migration on land rights of the indigenous people, indigenous people, cultural survival, minority policy and ethnic issues, population and migration, migration and environment, migration, insurgency and fundamental activities and any other topic related to the main theme.
The seminar being inter-disciplinary in nature, the scholars, researchers and academicians have been invited to submit their original research works.
According to the organizing committee, the participants must submit the filled in registration form within March 31 through mail or by hand along with the registration fees.

The last date of submission of abstract is March 20, 2018 while the full paper must be submitted by March 31 and the registration should be done by March 31 itself.
Meanwhile, the detail programme of the technical sessions would be uploaded in the college website www.digboicollege.edu.in on April 5.
However, the most significant aspect of the module is that the papers selected after the seminar by the review committee would be published in book form.
