The decks has been cleared for the 7th session of the 11th Manipur Assembly and the sessions will be held from February 20 till March 8 next.
A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee was held with assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand in the chair on Saturday. The meeting was also attended the state Chief Minister N Biren Singh and legislature party leaders.
According to the tentative programme of the assembly sitting, the Governor’s address was placed on the first day of the 17 day-long session having 13 sittings.
The business of the first day would also be confined to obituary references to MLAs and ex-MLAs who have passed away in recent time followed by presentation of the Business Advisory Committee Report 2019.
The session will further resume on February 21 with a discussion on Governor’s address and general discussion on supplementary demands for grants 2018-19, general discussion on budget estimates, 2018-19.
The supplementary demands for grants 2018-19,demands for excess grants for the year 2013-14,2014-15,2015-16 and budget estimate for 2019-20 would also be tabled on the opening day of the upcoming assembly session. The government is also expected to seek clearance of the budget estimate after due deliberation.
There will be no sitting on February 23 and 24 besides March 2 and 3.
The second session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly will conclude with consideration and passing of the Manipur Appropriation (No 2) Bill 2019. The concluding day will also take up the Private Members’ Business, the source added.
