The national level trade fair and book festival organized by the Bodo Writers’ Academy (BWA) in collaboration with National Book Trust of India and Education Department, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar from March 10 concluded on Tuesday.
Talking to the media on the side-lines of the colourful closing function, Rajen Basumatary, president of BWA said there were special poet meets, workshop on learning Bodo language, interactive sessions among the writers etc where representatives from five countries participated in the seminar as part of the eleven days long book fair.
He said that the open meeting of national level trade fair and book festival, Youth Bodo Writers Festival, workshop of Bodo learning and teaching and International Trade Fair were also organized.
Basumatary said that the open session of national level trade fair and book festival was inaugurated by Dr Mongolsing Hazowary, Sahitya Academy awardee.
The president of Asom Sahitya Sabha Dr Parmananda Rajbongshi participated as a chief guest.
The guests of honours were Sonia Piscayanti, Renoun Bali, a writer from Indonesia, Prof Putu Kerti Tiniasi of Ganesha University, Indonesia, Prof Lu Putu Artini of Ganesha University, Indonesia.
Renound scholar Ratneswar Basumatary, President of Boro Somaj Rajendra Nath Boro, Nabin Ch Mondal, President of West Bengal State Boro Somaj, Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Director of National Book Trust of India and other distinguished guests were present.
During the morning hours, a tribal writers and publishers meet held organized by National Book Trust of India.
About hundred Bodo writers and book publishers participated in the event.
Sonia Piscayanti, renowned writer from Bali, Indonesia was the Chief Guest of the ceremony.
Prof Putu Kerti Tiniasi and Prof Lu Putu Artini of Ganesha University, Indonesia were guests of honour.
Around thousand people gathered in the meeting including 400 Meche (Bodo) teachers from West Bengal.
Dr Parmananda Rajbongshi, president of Asom Sahitya Sabha welcomed the special delegates with gamocha and said that Asom Sahtiya Sabha is one of the most important literary organizations of Assam as well as abroad.
He said that Asom Sahitya sabha have been working in various development works of Assamese literary and cultural fields.
Rajbongshi also appreciated Bodo Writers Academy for organizing the national & international trade fair and books festival and said it will be helpful to writers to learn more.
Prof Lu Putu Artini of Ganesha University, Indonesia attended the open session of the national and international trade fair and books festival and expressed happiness over the hospitality of the Bodo people as well as India.
