CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology in Jorhat of eastern Assam will be celebrating the 77th foundation day of its apex body, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) with a day-long programme on September 26, a press communique stated.

A special function is scheduled to be held at Dr J N Baruah auditorium, CSIR-NEIST at 10.30 am wherein J K Borah, general manager (Mining), North Eastern Coalfield, Coal India Limited, Margherita, Tinsukia, Assam will grace the function as chief guest and deliver the foundation day lecture.

D Ramaiah, former director, CSIR-NEIST will address the occasion as guest of honour. The programme will be presided over by  Samit Chattopadhyay, Director, CSIR-NEIST.

Established on September 26, 1942, the Council of Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR) today has a pan-India presence with 38 constituent laboratories spread across the country.

This annual event is marked by technology awards, felicitation of employees, award of special fellowships/scholarships to science students, etc.

As a part of the celebration, CSIR-NEIST will observe ‘Open Day’ during 2 pm to 4.30 pm on the day for students and general public to visit the Institute.

CSIR-NEIST invites all students, general public, etc to avail this opportunity to visit the Institute and interact with scientists during the stipulated time.
