In 2019, Kanhaiya Kumar had contested from Bihar’s Begusarai constituency on a CPI ticket.

Mevani – who represents Gujarat’s Vadgam constituency – could be made a Working President of the party’s state unit, ND TV reported.

As per reports, Kumar has already met Rahul Gandhi – twice in two weeks – and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra – to discuss his future role in the party.

Sources in Congress told The Indian Express that Kumar is keen to play an active role in state politics.
