In one of the biggest drug hauls in 2018, Manipur police seized a huge number of contraband WY (World is Yours) tablets and heroin number 4 worth more than Rs 3 crore in the international market on Saturday noon from a truck carrying sands in Imphal.
The incident occurred when a team of Manipur police acting on a tip off intercepted and checked a sand laden truck bearing registration number of Assam (AS-01 CC/2349) near the gate of NG College in Imphal under Lamphel police station around noon on Saturday. The truck was reportedly coming from Moreh, the border town about 110 km south of Imphal.

The said contraband WY tablets numbering around 72,000 and 286 grams of Heroin number 4 were found packed in different plastic packets and hidden under the sand, it added. The total amount of the seized contraband drugs is estimated to be more than Rs 3 crore in the international market.
“A case has been registered under ND&PS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (ND&PS) Act,” Additional Superintendent of Police L Priyadarshini of Imphal West district said adding that necessary steps will be taken up in this regard.
On January 1, the Narcotics Cell of Manipur police attached at Imphal East district police seized Heroin number 4 in the form of a cake worth about Rs 42 lakh during a routine check. The white cake of Heroin number 4 weighing around 350 gram was seized from one Wilson Keishing (47) of Sailent village under Laikoiching in Senapati district around 6.30 pm on the first day of 2018.
