The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) will be organizing the first edition of two-day Assam Women Entrepreneurs’ Conclave. It is scheduled to be held from January 29 at NEDFi House in Guwahati.
“We are reaching out to women who are both aspiring entrepreneurs and established ones who have the potential to boost their businesses,” Dr Sriparna Barua, Head, Centre for Industrial Extension, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) told Northeast Now.
There is a huge scope for entrepreneurial development among women in Assam apart from the traditional sectors like handloom, handicraft, beauty, wellness and food processing.
In order to boost these opportunities and help in skill development, the conclave will provide a platform to local women entrepreneurs to ideate and interact with experts in the field.
“The conclave will provide a common platform which will bring together established entrepreneurs of the region as well as international experts to interact and mentor local women entrepreneurs. It will help develop their small and medium-sized enterprises,” she added.
Along with the conventional sectors the conclave aims to provide mentoring on different aspects of business planning and to build networks across sectors like branding, information technology, online business, tourism and hospitality, education, packaging and printing and more.
In the inaugural session, eminent speaker and award-winning entrepreneur Pacita Juan, Chairperson, ASEAN Women Entrepreneur’s Network (AWEN) will address the participating entrepreneurs.
Vinita Bimbhet, Chairperson India, ASEAN Women’s Business Forum and Founder Director Grameen Initiative for Women (GIW) will also grace the event.
The participating entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to learn from distinguished women entrepreneurs like Nisha Bora, Dr Nivedita Barthakur Sondhi, journalist Karma Paljor, Mala Barua, Founder of Mystic-Asia, Atul Chandrakant Kulkarni, Chairman, SEIL Trust, Nitin Jain MD, Prodigy Communications, IT sector entrepreneur Atreyee Borooah Thekedath and the like.
The event is being sponsored by department of Industries and Commerce, Assam.
