A free bus service will be flagged off by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday for the women employees of Assam Secretariat. Assam State Transport Corporation is providing six buses for the initiative.
ASTC DGM SP Sarma said six routes have been identified based on the demand from the employees.The buses will operate from LGBI airport, Jalukbari, New Guwahati, Panjabari, Basistha Mandir and Natboma.

“We have planned the timing in a manner that the buses will reach the secretariat at 9:30 am. The bus from airport will start its journey at 8:15 am. In each stoppage, the buses will halt for a minute,” said Sarma, reported The Assam Tribune.
The buses will be stationed at the secretariat at 5 in the evening for the return journey. Around 210 women employees have applied for the service.
The ASTC has issued the employees special identity cards for travelling in the buses.

“If required, we will increase the number of buses depending on the demand. Some employees may come forward once the service starts,” official sources said. The Government will reimburse the fares to the ASTC monthly.
