Pema Khandu

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu on Monday inaugurated the new office of Arunachal Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (APSERC) in Itanagar.

Power Minister Tamiyo Taga was also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM urged for support and guidance from the commission to cut down huge AT and C loss and for efficient power distribution in the state. He said in Arunachal will see huge investment in setting up of transmission lines across the state soon.

He also sought support of the commission in capitalising on state’s huge hydropower potential. He said the state is looking forward to working with public sector companies such as NEEPCO and NHPC Ltd.

He also suggested that wherever possible state government should also take up hydropower projects on feasibility basis. He advocated for building of run-of-the-river projects so that ecology and human settlements are not hampered. On this matter, Khandu said the state is consistently in touch with the centre on how to boost the power sector.

Commission Chairperson Raghunath Prasad Singh earlier delivered the welcome address. Also present on the occasion was Commissioner Power Kaling Tayeng.
