Aamar Mahavidyalay, Aamar Parichoy —– meaning ‘Our College is Our Identity’. On Tuesday, this theme set the tone for mass cleanliness drive in Mangaldai college campus.

Over hundreds of students of college NSS unit joined the cleanliness drive as part of their social commitment.  The students cleaned nearly 30 classrooms of eighteen departments apart from the college campus. Teachers, students, union body members – all joined hands to make the college clean.

After the cleanliness drive, it was time for plantation programme. Saplings of various valuable trees including sandalwood were planted.

Young nature lover Gauri Sankar Kalita, an office bearer of the nature organization “Aamar Banani , Ejopa Gach” attended the programme and donated few saplings of sandalwood .

Talking to Northeast Now, Mangaldai college unit NSS secretary Pranjal Pratim Deka vowed to carry on such social activities on a regular basis to motivate the young generation towards social obligations.

“We are very much determined to carry forward this initiative regularly in every alternate month,” Pranjal said.

Niharika Deka of Political Science Department and Mousumi Deka of Assamese Department were adjudged as best volunteers in the girl’s category. In the boy’s category Paragjyoti Kashyap of Geography Department and Jyotish Nath of Botany Department were jointly declared as winners.

Principal Dr Khagendra Kr Nath and teacher in charge of NSS  Esha Ram Nath conducted this cleanliness drive.
