The Supreme Court strongly refuted media reports on Sunday that stated Justices RF Nariman and DY Chandrachud had met Justice SA Bobde.
Justice Bobde is heading a three- panel committee which is probing alleged charges of sexual harassment against Assam-born Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi.
A top court statement termed the media report as “wholly incorrect” and denied that the two judges had met Justice Bobde.
The statement issued from the Supreme Court’s secretary general’s office further said that it is “unfortunate” that a leading newspaper went to press stating that the two judges met Justice Bobde.

The statement further stated that the in-house panel which is probing sexual slur charges against CJI Ranjan Gogoi “deliberate on the case on their own and do not take suggestions from any other judge of the apex court”.
A leading newspaper had published a report on Sunday stating that Justices RF Nariman and DY Chandrachud had met Justice Bobde and had told him that the three-judge panel should not go ahead with the proceeding ex parte.

The dismissed Supreme Court woman employee who has brought sexual assault charges against the CJI opted out of participating in the enquiry citing that her lawyer was not being allowed to accompany her during the proceedings. The former apex court employee also raised other grievances.
The newspaper report also stated that Justices Nariman and Chandrachud had told Justice Bobde that an amicus curiae should be appointed who would guide the three-judge panel on the sexual slur case.
The three-judge panel comprises Justice Bobde, Justice Indu Malhotra and Justice Indira Banerjee.
