Christians in Nagaland observed Good Friday on March 30 under the theme ”Christ- the atoning sacrifice’ with hundreds of believers attending services in their respective churches in the state.
Parishioners from St. Francis-de-Sales (SFS) Parish, Kohima held a procession in the morning, remembering the hours when Jesus hung on the cross. For Catholics, Good Friday is also a day of fast and abstinence.
“Jesus died on the cross for our sins. On the occasion of Good Friday let us spread love and forgiveness. Have a Blessed #GoodFriday,” Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio tweeted.
Leader of Opposition in Nagaland House TR Zeliang appealed to learn to live our lives in the best way that our Almighty God wants of us while reflecting and remembering the love of Christ for all mankind.
In his Good Friday message posted on social media on Friday, the former chief minister said, “Our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins so that we can be saved. Let us all worship and honour him with good deeds and being good Christians. Let us seek forgiveness from God and also from our fellow men and at the same time forgive others who might have wronged us.”
He wished that this Good Friday bring about better change in our Naga society in particular and the world in general.
“Let us pray for each other and strive to live according to His will so that we can earn His mercy and forgiveness,” Zeliang added.
