Talking to Northeast Now, Jiten Adhikary and Bilipang Basumatary, locals of the area, said, “The condition of at least 5 km stretch of the road from Choraiklola to Salakati NTPC Basugaon via Bongaigaon which also connects the Kokrajhar town has become worst. From Choraiklola to NTPC Salakati, which actually needs 15 minutes when the road remains in good condition, but due to the dilapidated condition of the road, it now takes 50 minutes to reach the destination.”

The villagers alleged, “The Assam Government, BTC authority, local MLA Chandan Brahma, who is the Tourism Minister, Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Sarania and MCLA Arpana Das have been continuously cheating us. We have approached the authorities concerned for many times and requested them to improve the condition of the road, but they have not listened to our demands. So, we will show our reaction in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. We need the road to be repaired first and then only the villagers will give vote for the candidate or party which take initiative in this regard, otherwise we will boycott the polls.”

They also said the students, patients, including pregnant women and public communication have been badly affected due to the poor condition of the road.
