Chief Minister’s Gold Cup archery tournament kicks off in Sikkim

The 17th Chief Minister’s Gold Cup archery tournament kicked off at Tathangchen archery field near Gangtok on Monday.

The traditional archery tournament organized by Sikkim Archery Association was inaugurated by former MLA Kunga Zangpo Bhutia.

The tournament witnesses participation from 17 teams including teams from Bhutan and Kalimpong.

Each team has a total of nine participants which includes seven players and two reserves.

The opening match was played between Sichey and Peden Cement of Bhutan.

The tournament will conclude on May 13.

The winner will receive a cash award of Rs one lakh and the runner up will get Rs 50,000.

Sikkim Olympic Association president BK Roka, retired Superintendent of Police Hishey Zangpo Bhutia and deputy mayor Lasey Doma Bhutia were also present on the opening day.
