Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau on Saturday said she is recovering from her illness after having been tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month.

“I am feeling so much better and have received all the clear from my physician and Ottawa Public Health,” she was quoted as saying.

The Prime Minister’s office announced on March 12 that she had tested positive for the coronavirus after she fell ill upon returning from a trip to London.

He and his wife have remained in self-isolation in their home since then.

He and their three children didn’t show symptoms.

Justin Trudeau, who has been giving daily news conference outside his residence, also said he would continue to work from home to set an example for his fellow countrymen who have also been asked to quarantine themselves at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Prime Minister on Saturday said his wife is in good health.

“From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you to everyone who reached out to me with their well wishes. And to everyone who is suffering right now, I send you all my love,” she said.

“I strongly believe that science and compassion will get us through this crisis. That means listening and following the health protocols and staying at home for the time being,” she added.

Meanwhile, Canada has more than 5,616 confirmed cases of coronavirus including 61 deaths.
