The Indian National Congress (INC) election manifesto scheduled to be released on Tuesday would highlight several issues pertaining to the northeastern states including the much controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
“The election manifesto will highlight the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill. In fact from the day when this bill was introduced in the Parliament we have opposed it,” said a senior Congress leader privy to the manifesto preparation.
The Congress will release its manifesto at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday at 24 Akbar Road.
Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, present Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra among others will be present during the manifesto release programme.
Announcement of giving special financial packages to the northeastern states might get highlighted in the manifesto.
“Through this manifesto the Congress will also try to criticise the BJP over its economic agenda,” said Pushp Saraf a political expert.
He said that issues related to Jammu & Kashmir would also be highlighted in the manifesto.
“The importance of India-Pakistan talks would definitely get highlighted in the manifesto,” said Sharaf.
