In a daring day-light burglary a small tea grower, identified as Khagen Boro, was robbed of a bag containing cash amounting to Rs seven lakhs from in front of Tangla State bank of India (SBI) branch in Udalguri at about 11 am on Tuesday.

The victim had withdrawn the amount from the bank when he was informed by a youth that something has stuck behind the wheels of his car.

Taking advantage of the situation, the notorious thief fled away with the bag.

Meanwhile, the victim has lodged an FIR at the Tangla police station after which police have launched a massive hunt to nab the burglar.

Locals have alleged that a gang of burglars which has been quite active in the Udalguri district looted couple of other victims also in recent times.

Police suspect, the gang is operating in an organized manner state-wide with connections with neighbouring states like West-Bengal.

They sneak into the neighbouring state and get holed up there making it nearly impossible to track them.

On March 21 last two sensational daylight burglaries was reported in Udalguri  where a duo tricked the owner and fled away with a bag containing cash amount of Rs36,000 from the LIC Satellite Office of Harisinga area in Udaguri.

In another case, on the same day, one Chandra Kanta Kumar was robbed by two people in broad daylight.

Reportedly, the incident took place near Udalguri market when Kumar came out from a bank after drawing his salary amount of Rs 25,000.

Meanwhile sensation prevails in the entire area after the rising incidents of burglary in the region.
