IG Piyush Patel Purtosottoam Das highlighted their commitment to sealing gaps with technological solutions and other measures, emphasizing the significance of maintaining vigilance to thwart illegal activities.

Addressing a press conference, IG Das revealed substantial progress in border fortification, with almost all previous gaps now covered by a single-row fence.
Currently, efforts are underway to bridge the remaining gaps with Single Row Fence (SRF) installations at eight locations.
Additionally, initiatives at the local level involve sealing gaps in nullahs and culverts to deter unlawful border crossings.

To augment surveillance capabilities, BSF Tripura has deployed a smart surveillance system comprising 503 cameras in smuggling and infiltration-prone zones.
Highlighting operational achievements, IG Das disclosed that between January 1, 2023, and April 15, 2024, BSF intercepted 1,018 individuals attempting illegal border crossings.
Among them, 498 were Bangladeshi nationals, 396 were Indians, and 124 hailed from other countries.
In addition to thwarting illegal border crossings, BSF seized contraband worth Rs 94 crore.
The confiscated items include Yaba tablets valued at Rs. 9.45 crore, cannabis worth Rs. 14.28 crore, Phensedyl/Eskuf valued at Rs. 3.91 crore, liquor worth Rs 43 lakh, cattle worth Rs 3.53 crore, gold worth Rs 2.48 crore, and assorted contraband valued at Rs 60.45 crore.
