BSF nabs 7 Bangladeshi nationals in Tripura

Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday while foiling multiple infiltration attempts apprehended as many as seven Bangladeshi nationals in different parts of Tripura.

Based on a tip-off, BSF personnel deployed at the Shyampara Border Out Post (BOP) area in South Tripura district’s Sabroom apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, when they were trying to sneak into India crossing the border fencing.

During questioning, the foursome revealed that they hail from Chattogram district of Bangladesh.

Later in the day, another Bangladeshi national was apprehended along the Anandpur BOP under the jurisdiction of Sonamura police station in Sepahijala district.

Indian currency notes, amounting to Rs 3,000, and 3,600 Bangladeshi taka, were recovered from the possession of the Bangladeshi national who hails from the neighbouring country’s Dhaka district.

Two more Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by the troops of BSF in North Tripura district’s Dharmanagar and Sabroom BOP area in South Tripura district, respectively.

On being searched, Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 5,540 were recovered from the possession of the duo hailing from Dhaka and Cumilla districts of Bangladesh, respectively.
