Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF) stationed in the Belonia Sub-division of South Tripura District has detained five Bangladeshi nationals.

According to a BSF press statement on July 18th, a special operation was conducted based on specific intelligence in the border area of Belonia.

During this operation, five Bangladeshi nationals, including three women, one man, and one boy, were apprehended while attempting to illegally enter Indian territory.

The detained individuals have been identified as Nazima Begum (40), Salma Begum (50), Nazima Begum (28), Yasim Sheikh (11), and Md Akhter (34), all residents of the Madaripur and Barisal districts in Bangladesh. All five were found in possession of Indian identity documents, such as Aadhar and PAN cards, and were reportedly heading to various locations in Delhi. The BSF is currently questioning them further.

Recently, the BSF has intensified its surveillance efforts to monitor the activities of suspected touts and to prevent illegal infiltration.

The BSF’s efforts focus on disrupting the networks of touts, facilitators, and those providing shelter, logistics, and fake documents to ensure the unchecked movement of illegal migrants within the country.

The BSF is committed to cracking down on illegal migration by Bangladeshi nationals and has increased vigilance in border areas.
