Two suspected militants belonging to the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) and People’s Liberation Army of Manipur (PLA) were killed by Kharsang based 12 Assam Rifles personnel in Digboi of Assam on Thursday morning

An encounter took place after the suspected militants resorted to firing at Kanubari village in Lekhapani in Tinsukia district of eastern Assam.

In the operation conducted thereafter at Chingsa village under Miao subdivision, the security agencies were able to secure desirable result by killing the two militants.

According to sources, two pistols and one Chinese hand-made grenade were also recovered from the possession of the slain militants.

Sources claimed that the two suspected hardcore militants who have been menace for the entire belt along Assam -Arunachal border in Tinsukia district were finally killed during the intense operation in Kharsang areas of Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The slain militants were identified as Moniram Deori alias Moniram Axom of ULFA and Kamba Singh of PLA from Manipur.
