Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Industry and Commerce Assam informed that a branch office of External Affairs Ministry will be set up in the state capital.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, assured Assam Industry and Commerce Minister of this regard when he called on her Sunday. Speaking to the press, the Industry and Commerce Minister said that the State Government has been asked to look for a suitable piece of land to set up the new office.
Earlier the Assam Government has invited Ministers from the ASEAN region and neighbouring countries to participate in the ‘Advantage Assam’ summit to be held in Guwahati next month. Assam Government has also requested the ASEAN to set up consulates in the city as part of the Act East initiative
