The incident took place at Paiseram Karbari Para village under Manikpur police station in Dhalai district of the state.
The area falls under the Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency.
The state is going to second phase of Lok Sabha polls and the election to Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency will take place on April 18.
“A young boy attacked some people and killed three on them including a woman with an axe. Another person was injured during the incident,” police said adding that there was some alteration between the victims and the accused.
“We are interrogating the accused,” police said adding that the attacker is a minor.
Police also said that the victims have been identified as 45-year-old Henabati Tripura, 68-year-old Kenachan Chakma and 45-year-old Subal Kanti Chakma while one Priyalal Chakma was injured during the incident.
