A 22-year-old girl student from Bokakhat allegedly committed suicide in a private hostel room at Happy Villa area in Uzan Bazar here on Thursday.
The student, identified as Puja Das, is doing a course in a city based private airhostess training institute, FrakFin.

She committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan with her chunni in the hostel room, police said.
Puja was staying in the private hostel, Shelter Accommodation, with her elder sister but she was not present when the incident took place.
On an alert by fellow inmates of the hostel, Puja hailing from Bokakhat in Golaghat district
was shifted to hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead.
The body of the deceased was shifted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for autopsy. The reason for taking the extreme step by the girl was yet to be ascertained, police added.
