In poll-bound Tripura, Madhusudan Deb, a BJP booth president of Ramnagar was found murdered on Sunday.  Deb was missing since Friday afternoon. The BJP had earlier accused CPI-M of abducting Deb.

Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma camping in Tripura tweeted, “Much to our shock & horror we discover today that our missing booth president of Ramnagar Sri Madhusudan Deb is brutally murdered by @cpimspeak goons. The white attire of Manik Sarkar ji is getting deeply stained by blood of innocent and people shall avenge this soon. Shame!”

The BJP on Saturday pointed a finger of suspicion at the ruling CPI-M saying that Madhusudhan Deb, missing for the past 24 hours, might have been abducted.

Police however claimed Deb, an autorickshaw driver, was a ‘habitual drunkard’ and often disappeared on earlier occasions also.

Poll related violence is a common phenomenon in Tripura. In December last a newly joined BJP activist was barbarically murdered in Northern Tripura’s Kanchanpur sub-division allegedly by CPI-M cadres.

There were several cut marks on the body of the deceased identified as one Sunil Deb. His body was found lying in a drain near Kanchanpur market area. BJP alleged CPI-M hands behind the murder.

Another BJP supporter Gour Hari Molsom was shot dead allegedly by CPI-M supporters in November at Raipara village of Atharabla under Killa police station in Udaipur.  The deceased, Gahur Hari Molsom, was a member of BJP Bagma Mandal 30/11 booth committee.

On January 3 last, a BJP supporter Amulya Malakar of Rajnagar under PR Bari police station in South Tripura was hacked to death allegedly by a CPI-M supporter while five others including two were seriously injured.

In yet another incident of murder in January Chiranjit Das, a BJP Yubha Morcha worker of Kathacherra village under Sidhai PS of Shimna constituency was allegedly murdered by Kartik Das who is a CPI-M supporter.
