“Tomorrow (Thursday), BJP will release its Vision Document. But the question is whether there is a need to release another document when they have not been able to achieve anything that was promised in the 2014 Vision Document,” Congress spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi told reporters here.
“Therefore, what are they going to release tomorrow? They will only release more lies and false dreams and create more frustration among the people of Meghalaya,” he said.
Gogoi who campaign in few constituencies of Shillong city, termed the promises given by the BJP-led NDA government and the Prime Minister in terms of providing jobs to the youth a “big lie”.

“The PM has realized that he has signally failed to provide jobs to the youth, which explains why he keeps diverting the nation’s attention from jobs to cow, Ayodhya, Hindutva and Nehru. He swiftly moved from giving employment to self-employment, making it clear that the BJP is unable to create jobs or meet aspirations of young Indians,” Gogoi said.
Gogoi claimed that it is only the Congress that can fulfill the aspiration of the young people in Meghalaya.
He said that since 2014, only 74 start-ups applications have been approved for availing tax benefits, and 80 per cent out of 33,000 start-ups, have not benefitted in any way from Start-Up India Mission.
The NDA government, according to him, has added just 1.35 lakh jobs in eight labour-intensive sectors in 2015, compared to 9.3 lakh jobs that were created in 2011 during the UPA government’s time.
“The make in India has proven hollow and unable to create jobs. Even when the world was undergoing recession, the UPA government had in 2009 managed to create 12.56 lakh jobs, but it has declined to just 2 lakh in 2016,” Gogoi said, quoting the labour bureau figures.
Stating that the economy during the tenure of the UPA government was growing at 7 per cent, Gogoi said, even when the world was undergoing recession during 2008, the Indian economy under UPA continued to be resilient and those were truly the “achche din” for India.
Gogoi said that one thing the BJP is serious about is to tell the people “what they should eat, what song to be sung that the BJP wanted to impose on the freedom of the youth.”
On the BJP’s statement that the Congress is communalizing this election, Gogoi said, “The BJP needs to answer why in Madhya Pradesh pastors and Christmas carol goers were beaten up, Good Friday was celebrated as digital day and Christmas Day as good governance day. Is this the way you respect people?”
