All India United Democratic Front’s (AIUDF) Supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal upon his arrival at Silchar on Thursday said both ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are trying to make rotis (chapatti) when the pan is hot.
He made this comment in reference to the recent ruckus caused by the Trinamool Congress MPs and MLAs at Silchar’s Kumbhirgram airport on August 2 last when asked by the waiting media upon his arrival at Silchar Circuit House.
Speaking to Northeast Now, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, said, “Before commenting on what Mamata Banerjee and her party members did at Silchar airport, I would like to draw the attention of all and sundry as to what BJP national President Amit Shah did in parliament. He comes and on the floor of the house, says, no one could do and only BJP has shown everyone by doing it in reference to the laying of the final draft of NRC.”
He added, “My point is, when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said twice in Parliament that we have no role and the NRC process is under the direct jurisdiction of the Supreme Court then how am I supposed to believe whether this NRC is being made by the watchful eyes of the apex court or by Amit Shah and his party, if he makes such comments.”
He reiterated, if Amit Shah can politicize this issue, then Mamata Banerjee too did all this keeping an eye for the forthcoming general elections in 2019.
Later, in the evening Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, met his Cachar District Committee workers and addressed the gathering with a key note that his party’s stand is very clear in terms of NRC. Whosoever has come post March 25, 1971, won’t find AIUDF’s shelter, but anyone who has come before that and has not been enlisted in the final draft of NRC, they are willing to extend all possible help to get his or her names enrolled, in the next few months to come.
He also informed, no one should panic as people from all strata, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, would get legal assistance free of cost. His Jamiat as well as his AIUDF party has roped in more than 1000 advocates who have volunteered to assist at various NRC Seva Kendras of the state in coming days as most of the poor and the marginalized class of people would need this legal assistance at the fullest.
