BJP MLA lights torch and shouts ‘Chinese virus go back’ to mark fight against COVID-19

A BJP MLA in Telangana T Raja Singh on Sunday grabbed the limelight after he was witnessed shouting the slogan ‘China virus go back’ along with a group of his followers.

Singh along with his supporters were seen carrying fire torches in their hands at 9 pm on Sunday.

They were seen lighting fire torches in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to light diyas, candles or use the flashlight of their mobile phones at 9pm for nine minutes on Sunday as a sign of solidarity in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

However, they were seen together and had had not followed social distancing at all.

Although Singh had a mask on his face, he was not wearing the mask properly and some of the people assembled together with him also did not wore any masks.

While urging people to light lamps and candles, Modi said that no one should cross the ‘LakshmanRekha’ of Social Distancing and that the rule should not be breached under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, the people across the country had effectively rose to the occasion in unison on Sunday night in response to PM Modi’s appeal by lighting diyas, candles and mobile torchlights.

The number of positive cases of coronavirus in the country continues to surge.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 3,577 with 83 deaths.
