Gujarat is a dry state and liquor is “prohibited” in the state. Well, this is just in papers as in reality booze is available in plenty in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a BJP leader was seen having a “full-on” birthday bash and that too in public, on a road, even though the state is grappling with rising COVID-19 cases.
The BJP leader used a sword to cut his birthday cake as his friends poured booze on him and themselves.
The incident took place in Gujarat’s Mahisagar district and the BJP leader has been identified as Kawan Patel-the party’s district convenor.
Besides Kanwal Patel, those involved in the act include Yogendra Mehra, BJP’s district president for Mahisagar.
Taking note of the incident the police have arrested seven people in this case.
The video was tweeted by Gujarat-based senior journalist Gopi Maniar Ghanghar.
