Vehicles of BJP leaders JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoys were attacked with stones and bricks in Bengal on Thursday.

The two leaders came under attack when they were on their way to Diamond Harbour to meet party workers.

Stones were hurled at Nadda’s convoy on way to Diamond Harbour in West Bengal, alleged Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Thursday.

Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoy was also attacked on Thursday and stones were hurled at his vehicle. Vijayvargiya has shared a video showing a cracked windshield of the car he is travelling in.

Ghosh alleged that Trinamool Congress workers sporting party flags and armed with lathis attacked their convoy at multiple places.

“Stones and bricks were hurled by TMC workers. Several cars have sustained damage. Police were mute spectators in some places and missing elsewhere,” alleged Ghosh.

Earlier, Ghosh had alleged a security lapse at a BJP event attended by JP Nadda on Wednesday, following which the Union Home Ministry sought a report from West Bengal government over the concerns raised by the BJP leaders.

Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed concerned over the “alarming reports of anarchy and lawlessness”.

He said that such incidents took place even despite his intimations to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police.
